The Winklevoss twins, considered the world’s first Bitcoin billionaires, now claim that BTC is not the only crypto asset in their wallets.
In a new interview with Camila Rousseau of The Defiant, Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, co-founders of the Gemini cryptocurrency exchange, say they are also major investors in Ethereum , the second most valuable cryptocurrency by market capitalization.
“We definitely have a lot of ethers] …..]”
The twins did not disclose the exact amount of their investment in Ethereum, but hinted that it was from “the same universe ” and “the same galaxy ” as their Bitcoin holdings .
“It’s significant. A few years ago, we made an effort to buy a lot of ethers.”
In 2013, the twins revealed that they owned 120,000 BTC, which is 1% of all Bitcoin in circulation at the time. As Bitcoin is now hovering around $ 9,200, this investment is worth more than $ 1.1 billion.
If the twins’ participation in ETH is comparable to their investment in Bitcoin, Tyler and Cameron could keep about 4% of all Ethereum in circulation.
